The stories & backgrounds of our newest grads were inspiring, resilient, and wonderful examples of how the Seminar seeks to "Open the Doors of Government to Everyone".  

Our amazing class included:

- A New American from Kenya who is fighting to improve access for children with dyslexia...

- An Ethiopian native whose focus is improving public health in her community...

- Beijing and Shanghai natives who are working to better their neighborhoods...

- A Haitian born immigrant who grew up in the Dominican Republic, and speaks four languages...

- A financial analyst who has been interested in politics since high school...

- Staff and volunteers at the Asian American Civic Association whose partnership with the Seminar is one of

       our proudest collaborations...

- A disability rights activist who was inspired at a young age to community activism... 

- Military veterans (including a self-described “army brat”) who are looking to learn more about how

       government works...

- An aspiring social entrepreneur who has been volunteering since age 13, and who dreams of opening her

       own non-profit...

- A soon-to-be father who came to the U.S. from Cape Verde when he was just 5 years old...

- And a dozen more students who have fascinating stories, and are looking to effectuate positive change in

       their communities.
